Video: Defense Ministry Aware of What is Being Transported or Who is on Azerbaijani Planes, MP to Deputy Minister
Today, Arthur Ghazinyan, a member of the "Armenia" faction, inquired during a regular meeting of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Defense and Security about the legal grounds for Azerbaijani planes traveling through Armenia’s airspace from Baku to Nakhchivan and back. Additionally, the MP asked whether the Ministry of Defense is aware of what is being transported or who is on the Azerbaijani planes.
Arman Sargsyan, the Deputy Minister of Defense, advised the opposition MP to direct those questions to the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia, stating that he is not well-versed in the legal procedures.
“There is undisputed information that there is a concentration of terrorist groups transported from Syria in the Nakhchivan area. I do not know what purpose they are being brought there for. Perhaps at some point, for conducting terrorist acts, as happened during the 44-day war,” Ghazinyan said.
It should be noted that in response to a query from Sputnik Armenia, the Civil Aviation Committee of Armenia stated that the Azerbaijani AZAL airline pays Armenia for passing through its airspace. The amount depends on the aircraft’s flight weight, the route and time of the flight through Armenia's airspace, as well as the scale of air route levies.
