Prime Minister Meets with Community Leaders of Syunik
Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with the leaders of the communities of Syunik Province, including Kapan, Meghri, Tegh, Tatev, Gorayk, Kajaran, and Sisian, as well as the deputy mayor of Goris.
Before discussing issues related to the province, the Prime Minister congratulated the newly elected leaders of all communities in the republic: “I am pleased to note that the public's confidence in the electoral institution is increasing consistently and continuously. This has been an important commitment of our political team and government, and we will continue down this path. Of course, our electoral system is not perfect; there is no perfect electoral system in the world, but it is important to record that citizens must be confident that their vote is decisive. Regardless of how much this may please the authorities or the opposition, the people must know that they are the deciding force, and this is an extremely important factor,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of holding such meetings in the context of the ongoing process of community consolidation: “Perhaps we should think about a more general format so that we can improve the interaction between the government and the local self-government institutions.”
Addressing the issues facing the Syunik region, Nikol Pashinyan noted that they are at the center of the government's daily attention. In this regard, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of providing information from official sources: “It is necessary to provide complete information about what is happening, why it is happening, what to expect, and what not to expect. Unfortunately, correct information is not always circulated in the information field. We all need to be able to assess the realities clearly and differentiate fake information from accurate information,” emphasized the Prime Minister, adding that in many matters, both internal and external, all state and self-governing bodies of Armenia must act synchronously because it is a matter of protecting state and national interests.
Subsequently, the meeting discussed cooperation between the government and local self-government bodies, the progress of government programs being implemented in the communities of Syunik, including those aimed at improving and developing infrastructure. The effective implementation of the government’s five-year program, as well as large-scale programs planned as part of Armenia-EU cooperation, was underscored, which will significantly contribute to the development of the province and communities and the creation of new jobs.
The Prime Minister also touched on the possibilities for economic and transport unblocking in the region, as well as the demarcation and delimitation of borders.
