The Unbeatable Commander Must Be Justified: The Ongoing Trial of Manvel Grigoryan
The trial of former National Assembly member, former chairman of the Union of Armenian Volunteers, and Major General Manvel Grigoryan continues as the defense insists that the criminal prosecution should not be halted on the grounds of death. This was stated by lawyer Arsen Mkrtchyan in an interview with NEWS.am.
“There are examples in legal practice. The law provides for this possibility. A court ruling must be issued for his justification. All sorts of criminal procedural actions that are not provided by law have taken place in Manvel Grigoryan’s case and formally continue. We want there to be a ruling in history that would be suitable for our people. The easiest thing would have been to dismiss the case, to halt the criminal prosecution due to the person's death, but we need the main accuser, who intends to hand over Armenia, to understand that their lies should not remain in history,” he stated.
When asked what compensation is expected if Manvel Grigoryan is justified, lawyer Mkrtchyan noted that no compensation is necessary for the heirs of Manvel Grigoryan.
