Tomorrow, Yerevan Residents Will Witness the Demonstration Flight of the "Russkiye Vityazi" Aviation Display Team
Yerevan residents will have a unique opportunity to watch the demonstration flight of the "Russkiye Vityazi" aviation display team. The event will take place on November 21, starting at 1 PM. Entry to the "Erebuni" airport is free.
The "Russkiye Vityazi" aviation group of the Russian Air Force is the only team in the world that performs solo and group aerobatics on heavy fighter jets. The group was formed on April 5, 1991, at the "Kubinka" airport (Moscow region), based on the first aviation squadron of the aviation technology demonstration center.
In early 1991, the final composition of the aerobatic team, which consists of six aircraft, was established, and on the same date, the aerobatic team was officially created and named "Russkiye Vityazi." A distinctive emblem was designed for the new unit: a shield with a blue background and a diamond shape formed by four aircraft, and special suits were made for the pilots.
In 2016, the aircraft inventory was supplemented with Su-30SM jets. The pilots have fully mastered these planes and are carrying out an updated aerial program with the newest multi-functional Su-30SM fighters, showcasing the modern aviation systems' advanced characteristics. In November 2019, "Russkiye Vityazi" received Su-35S fighter jets.
The "4+" and "4++" generation fighters, including the Su-30SM and Su-35S, are distinguished by new aircraft control systems, a new arsenal complex, and avionic systems. These aircraft are equipped with new engines that allow pilots to operate them confidently, control the aircraft in aerobatic mode, and at any speed.
