Criminal Case Opened Following Explosion Near Military Unit in Gyumri

The Shirak Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case under part 1 of Article 235 of the RA Criminal Code, aimed at clarifying the circumstances surrounding an explosion that occurred in the vicinity of military unit N in Gyumri, as reported by the RA Investigative Committee.

On November 16, 2021, at 14:02, the duty officer of the military unit alerted the Kumayri division of the RA Police, reporting that an explosion had taken place in the area adjacent to the military unit.

According to a report received on the same day from the Gyumri Medical Center LLC, an 18-year-old youth was brought in for medical attention with a preliminary diagnosis of a "penetrating wound to the chest, hemorrhaging, and traumatic hemorrhagic shock" from an area adjacent to the unit's fence.

Investigators conducted an examination of the scene, and the young man's clothing was seized. Forensic medical and explosive technical examinations have been appointed. In response to operational investigative measures, a relevant directive has been issued to the investigative body to clarify several circumstances of the incident.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
