Criminal Case Opened Over Azerbaijani Forces Approaching Sisian Combat Positions

Yesterday, a criminal case was opened in Syunik following the illegal crossing of the state border of Armenia by Azerbaijani armed forces and violations of territorial integrity. This was reported by Gor Abrahamyan, an advisor to the Armenian Prosecutor General.

On November 14 at around 12:00 PM, a group of Azerbaijani servicemen approached the state border of Armenia adjacent to Sisian in the Syunik province without permission. They advanced up to 1 to 2 kilometers into Armenian territory, approaching four combat positions of the Armenian Armed Forces, and demanded that the Armenian servicemen evacuate those areas under the threat of using weapons.

A criminal case has been initiated at the military prosecutor's office of Yeghignadzor under Article 329, Part 2 of the Armenian Criminal Code (illegal crossing of the state border by a group of individuals under threat of violence) and Article 300.2 (actions aimed at violating territorial integrity).

As part of the criminal case, beyond the actions of the adversary, an investigation will also look into the circumstances that allowed the enemy forces to approach the specified combat positions and the conditions under which the Armenian servicemen left those positions.
