Former Prosperous Armenia MP Janibek Hayrapetyan Released
Former MP of the Prosperous Armenia faction, Janibek Hayrapetyan, has been released. His lawyer, Raphael Amirxanyan, announced on his Facebook page that the Armenian Court of Appeals, presided over by fair-minded judge Alexander Azaryan, satisfied the appeal, overturned the decision of the first-instance court, and released Janibek Hayrapetyan from custody.
“In the end, justice prevailed, and Mr. Azaryan once again proved what the true mission of a Judge is — to administer real justice,” wrote Amirxanyan.
It is noteworthy that on October 23, the Yerevan Court of General Jurisdiction, under the chairmanship of Judge Vache Margaryan, approved the motion to detain Janibek Hayrapetyan as a measure of restraint. The former parliament member was charged in connection with a violent incident that occurred on May 9, 2016, under Article 112, Part 1 of the Armenian Criminal Code, for causing bodily harm to another or inflicting serious injury to health.
