Attempted Murder of a Slovak Citizen

On September 12, 2015, around 23:40 in the town of Mihalovce, Slovakia, a resident of Armavir stopped the vehicle of a 30-year-old man, forced him out, and inflicted deliberate stab wounds to the chest area with a sharp cutting object, causing life-threatening injuries. However, the crime was not completed due to circumstances beyond his control. The investigation into the attempted murder of a citizen of Slovakia of Armenian descent by the resident of Armavir has been concluded by the Armavir Regional Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

According to the findings of the investigation, on September 13, 2015, a report was received at the regional department of the Slovak police regarding a 30-year-old man who had been transported to medical assistance with stab wounds. Based on this report, a criminal case was initiated under relevant articles of the Slovak Criminal Code. Necessary measures were taken to uncover various circumstances of the incident, including the crime scene and the identity of the perpetrator who inflicted injuries on the 30-year-old man; the perpetrator is a 54-year-old resident of Armavir.

In May 2016, the Slovak law enforcement authorities announced an international search for him, and a corresponding notification was sent to the Interpol National Central Bureau in Armenia. In October 2018, the criminal case was taken under the jurisdiction of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

During the pre-investigation, decisions were made to change the charges against the Armavir resident, to align his actions with the Armenian Criminal Code, to involve him as an accused, and to declare him wanted. As a result of necessary investigative actions carried out by the Investigative Committee of Armenia and operational-search activities by the Police of Armenia, the resident of Armavir was detected and presented to the prosecution body on January 27, 2019.

The activities conducted during the pretrial process revealed that the resident of Armavir had pursued the 30-year-old man with intent to unlawfully deprive him of life on September 12, 2015, stopped the victim's vehicle at Koněčna Street in Mihalovce at around 23:40, and when the victim exited the vehicle, he inflicted deliberate stab wounds to the chest area, causing life-threatening injuries. However, the crime was not completed due to circumstances beyond his control.

Based on sufficient evidence, charges have been filed against the resident of Armavir under Part 1 of Article 34-104 of the Armenian Criminal Code. The investigation has been completed, and the criminal case has been sent to court with an accusatory conclusion.
