New Details on Fatal Hit-and-Run Incident in Shirak Province: Arrest Made
The Shirak regional department of the police, the Akhuryan division, and the Shirak regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia have identified the deceased man involved in a hit-and-run incident in Shirak Province on November 6.
According to Shamshyan.com, the victim has been identified as 54-year-old Samvel Arakelyan, a resident of Shirak Province.
On the same day, thanks to operational and investigative work conducted by police and investigators, a 34-year-old resident of Yerevan, Hayk A., voluntarily presented himself to the Akhuryan police station. He reported that on the same day, around 5:30 AM, he had hit a pedestrian while driving his friend’s BMW X-6, who lives in Gyumri and is 21 years old, Ashot A.
In the course of the initiated criminal case, he was arrested based on the decision of an investigator from the Shirak regional investigative department's Akhuryan investigative unit. The vehicle involved in the incident has been impounded at the Akhuryan police station.
As previously reported, on November 6, a fatal hit-and-run incident occurred in Shirak Province. Around 6:00 AM, an unknown driver in an unspecified vehicle with no license plates struck a pedestrian, a man around 55-60 years old, on the 109 km mark of the Yerevan-Gyumri highway. The pedestrian died on the spot, and the driver fled the scene.
