Ohanian: Reports Suggest New Documents May Be Signed Between Two Countries Soon

We need to evaluate and understand which strategic directions we must take in order to navigate this difficult situation. This was stated by Seyran Ohanian, the head of the 'Armenia' faction and former Minister of Defense, during a discussion titled 'The Necessity of a Fact-Finding Commission: Post-War Recovery'. The meeting was initiated by the 'Armenia' alliance, as reported by Hraparak.

“During this past year, the government of Armenia should have taken appropriate measures to conduct a strategic review and, as a result, assess the security environment, as well as internal and external threats. However, this government has not undertaken these actions despite having all the necessary opportunities and tools. Now we are compelled to carry this out ourselves, although I reiterate that the state should have done this. Particularly, the law enforcement agencies should have performed this task and engaged us in the process, but now, in fact, this process is moving from the bottom up. We again see during this initiative that the current authorities do not even attempt to engage in this process and ultimately provide the evaluations I mentioned,” said Ohanian.

“The Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem continues its pressures not only on Artsakh but also on Armenia. They are pressuring for a corridor to be opened through the territory of Armenia, despite their claims of unblocking roads, but we understand that this will lead to a deep blockade of Armenia and Artsakh,” Ohanian added.

“These authorities, by breaking the resilience of our people in 2020 and deceiving them, led us to capitulation. Now the discussions that suggest new documents may be signed between the two countries soon will ultimately consolidate the capitulatory situation in which Armenia and Artsakh find themselves. We, the 'Armenia' alliance, are taking measures in this regard, and these actions will certainly be expressed in our rally scheduled for the 8th. No to the Turkification of Armenia, and no to the depopulation of Artsakh,” concluded the former Minister of Defense.
