There Was No Brawl at the Gyumri CC Headquarters, Deputy Governor Says

The situation was tense at the CC office in Gyumri last night after the party's defeat in the elections. CC members reportedly turned on each other, blaming one another for the loss. This was reported by Hraparak.am.

“Our sources from the Gyumri CC informed us that a brawl, accompanied by insults, was taking place between the Shirak governor, CC candidate for mayor Hovhannes Harutyunyan, and former governor and CC MP Karen Sarukhanyan. We attempted to verify this information with them, but both Harutyunyan and Sarukhanyan did not answer our calls. We also called CC MP Nazeli Baghdasaryan from Gyumri, but she too disconnected our call.

We managed to contact Shirak Deputy Governor Hovhannes Zohrabyan, who was also reportedly at the CC headquarters during that time. When we asked if he was still at the headquarters, he replied, “Yes, I’m just stepping out.” We informed him that we had been told there was tension at the headquarters; however, Zohrabyan immediately interrupted and hurried to deny it. “Absolutely not, there is no such thing,” he said. It seemed as though he was aware of what we were about to ask and decided to preemptively stop the inquiry.

We mentioned the alleged argument, possibly a brawl, between the former and current governors of Shirak, but the deputy governor reiterated that there was no such occurrence. We also inquired if Karen Sarukhanyan had been present at the headquarters, as well as their candidate for mayor, Hovhannes Harutyunyan. “They have been present at different times, but the phenomenon you described does not exist,” said Hovhannes Zohrabyan,” the media outlet reported.
