The 'Country of Living' Party Does Not Recognize the Legitimacy of the Tegh Community Authority
The 'Country of Living' party announces that numerous electoral violations occurred during the local elections in the Tegh community, including pressures on numerous candidates and obstruction of citizens’ free expression of will. This is stated in a message released by the party.
"In the local council elections held on October 17 in Gyumri, Dilijan, Meghri, Tatev, and Tegh, the 'Country of Living' party has surpassed the electoral threshold and will be represented in the councils of the mentioned communities, with preliminary results showing the following results:
Gyumri – 5.6%
Dilijan – 24.5%
Meghri – 9.8%
Tatev - 13.1%
Tegh – 34.9%
We thank the citizens who voted for us. We assure that through our work, we will responsibly serve the interests of the community residents and the development of the communities.
At the same time, it should be noted that in all communities, there were numerous cases of abuse of administrative resources by various representatives of the authorities, and the involvement of 'local authorities' in propaganda and the election day process reminded us of the old good times of services to the current power.
The elections held in the Tegh community were the most disgraceful elections in memory. The entire electoral process was accompanied by pressures and threats against almost all party candidates by the authorities, resulting in nine candidates being forced to withdraw from the electoral race. During the campaign, threats against the population continued. The transportation of citizens to polling stations on election day, evident reports of vote buying, and the illegal presence of numerous individuals at polling stations hindered citizens from exercising their right to freely express their will.
Although from the perspective of the electoral code, the data available on the ballots has been registered as a result of the elections, based on the investigation of the entire process, the 'Country of Living' party does not recognize the legitimacy of the Tegh community authority.
In the communities of Gyumri, Meghri, and Tatev, the community leader will be elected by the council members, and the party will express its position on this matter subsequently. We will continue our participation in the upcoming local elections, contributing to the development of our communities," states the party's announcement.
