Approval Does Not Mean Russia Joins the Promotion of the '3+3' Initiative, Says Silayev

International expert Nikolai Silayev addressed the Turkish president's proposal to create a 'six-country platform' in the region through the '3+3' format, emphasizing that the positive response from the Russian foreign minister to this initiative does not mean that Russia is joining the promotion of this idea.

According to Armenpress, Silayev made these remarks during the 'Caucasus in the 21st Century' international conference. He stated that the positive responses from Russia and Iran regarding the '3+3' initiative are not definitive, as they could either imply support for the initiative or indicate that Russia simply does not want to be in a position where it has to reject it.

'One can endlessly approve of this initiative, fully realizing that it is unlikely Georgia will support this initiative, and most likely Armenia will not either. Showing approval does not mean that Russia is joining the promotion of this initiative. It seems to me that if there is approval from Russia, it will be rather passive,' said Nikolai Silayev.
