NSS Statement on the Arrest of Deputy Chief of the Armed Forces General Staff
In the framework of a criminal case being investigated by the National Security Service's investigation department regarding violations and particularly large-scale thefts in the process of supplying military equipment for the needs of the Armed Forces of Armenia, S.G., who holds the position of Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, has also been arrested.
On the same day, he was charged with abuse of office leading to significant material consequences and official forgery, and a proposal has been submitted to the court to select detention as a preventive measure.
The National Security Service also reports that large-scale operational and investigative measures are ongoing in the criminal case to individualize the actions of other officials involved in the criminal mechanism and to initiate criminal prosecution against them.
