Marukyan: Priority is the Withdrawal of Azerbaijani Troops from Armenia and the Return of Prisoners
The leader of the LHK party, Edmond Marukyan, wrote on his Facebook page:
“I am on the way to another important meeting. My agenda includes the following issues:
- The large-scale aggression against Artsakh and Armenia, which completely destroyed peace negotiations, peace, and stability in the region.
- Numerous violations of the basic articles of the UN Charter.
- War crimes committed during both the April 2016 war and the 44-day war in 2020, against the peaceful Armenian population of Artsakh and Armenian prisoners of war.
- The use of prohibited weapons during the 44-day war in 2020 (including cluster bombs and chemical weapon elements), targeting peaceful citizens, schools, and hospitals.
- The transfer and use of terrorists from Syria.
- The destruction and Azerbaijaniization of Armenian cultural heritage.
- The illegal blockade against Artsakh and Armenia, aimed at the depopulation of areas with historic Armenian presence.
- The promotion of hatred against Armenians both within Azerbaijan (including among children) and beyond its borders, essentially continuing the genocidal policies of Ottoman Turkey.
- Permanent violations of Armenia's territorial integrity and sovereignty manifested by aggressive rhetoric, distortion of historical truths, hate speech, and direct military actions and violations of the sovereign borders of the Republic of Armenia.
- The opening of a “military trophy park” in Baku, symbolizing the propaganda of hatred against Armenians in Azerbaijan.
- The detention, torture, and murder of prisoners of war, including peaceful residents.
- Desecration of the bodies of fallen soldiers and civilians.
The promotion of these and other issues continues for me in all international forums, which unequivocally stem from the national interests of Armenia. At this moment, the priority is the withdrawal of Azerbaijani troops from the territory of Armenia, the return of Armenian prisoners of war to Armenia as soon as possible, and the cessation of Azerbaijani provocations at the borders, after which we can discuss all other agenda items.”
