Another 'Presentation' Awaits in the National Assembly: The Ministry of Defense Calls for an Extraordinary Session

According to Armlur.am, the chairman of the National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Defense and Security, Andranik Kocharyan, is set to convene another extraordinary session on October 5. Reports indicate that the committee has one agenda item: the election of a deputy chair for the committee. This will mark the sixth time this committee has convened for an extraordinary session on the same issue.

The crux of the matter lies in the fact that the opposition ‘Armenia’ faction has nominated MP Artur Ghazinyan for this position, while the ruling party refuses to elect him. During the last election, tensions flared so much that Gegham Manukyan, an MP from the same faction, even left the hall without presenting their candidate to the committee, after which Artur Ghazinyan exited as well.

Now, amid the numerous issues in Armenia’s defense and security sector, the committee is once again holding a session motivated by the same ‘presentation,’ which seemingly aims to reach the same deadlock.
