In the local elections held yesterday in Georgia, the ruling 'Georgian Dream' party garnered 47.66%, while the opposition 'United National Movement' received 31.06%. This information has been reported by Sputnik Georgia.

These are the preliminary results from the Central Election Commission after processing 56.13% of the ballots. The third place is occupied by the party of former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia, which received 7.3%.

It is noteworthy that the former president of Georgia, Mikheil Saakashvili, returned to Georgia the day before the elections and was arrested. He faces 13 criminal charges, several of which have resulted in a remote conviction with a prison sentence.
