In Yerevan, a 'Yashik' Driver Causes a Series of Car Crashes Near the Bellagio Restaurant

Today, September 27, a major car accident occurred in Yerevan. Around 21:40, a Mercedes G series vehicle left its lane on Myasnikyan Avenue while heading towards the Heratsi Tunnel, crossed the divider, and collided with an Opel vehicle. Subsequently, it continued forward and crashed into another Opel and a Nissan.

According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan reporting from the scene, one person was transported to the hospital for medical examination as a result of the accident. An operational response team from the Emergency Situations Ministry's fire and rescue unit arrived at the scene promptly. The firefighters disabled the vehicles and secured the gas cylinders.

Officers from the patrol service of the RA Police, led by Deputy Commander Andranik Isakhanyan, also arrived quickly. The police cordoned off the area and are providing enhanced service to prevent traffic jams.

At the site, police urged several young people to leave the designated area, but one individual began displaying disrespectful behavior towards the officers, referring to them as "villagers" and "abjects," stating that they do not know who his "brother in charge" is, along with several other incoherent remarks. Isakhanyan and the officers requested that he cease such behavior, but he persisted, acting as if he was untouchable and even pushing the officers.

The police are working to identify the drivers and the injured person. Several citizens gathered at the scene expressed their disbelief, stating, "Why didn’t they take down someone showing such disrespect towards the police? If it were a protest, an entire army of red berets would have come. But because he said his brother works in your system, the officers are just letting it slide."
