According to SHAMSHYAN.com, earlier today, officers from the Chief Department of Criminal Police of the Republic of Armenia, as well as law enforcement from Yerevan and the Arabkir division, in collaboration with investigators from the Investigative Committee of Armenia, conducted extensive operational-search and investigative joint operations in Shirak province. As a result, they managed to neutralize 29-year-old Levon Sahakyan, a resident of Yerevan, at the Bavra border crossing while he was attempting to leave Armenia.
Photographer Gagik Shamshyan reports that Sahakyan is suspected of committing murder with a firearm and attempted murder earlier today, on September 28, in front of the Victory Park in Yerevan.
Earlier reports from SHAMSHYAN.com revealed that the victim, 27-year-old Diana Darbinyan, who was killed in gunfire near Yerevan's Victory Park, was the daughter of Bagrationi Darbinyan, the prominent businessman and director of the “Gloria” sewing factory in Vanadzor. The wounded 29-year-old Vazgen Margaryan is the husband of D. Darbinyan and works as a director in one of the leading companies in the republic.
Police and investigators identified the alleged assailant, a 24-year-old resident of Yerevan who fled the crime scene. It was also determined that prior to the shooting, a confrontation had occurred between this young man, named Levon, and V. Margaryan over domestic issues at a café located at the intersection of Sayat Nova and A. Manukyan streets, escalating into a physical altercation.
By order of the investigator, the Land Rover involved in the incident was taken to the special storage facility of the Arabkir division of the police.
