Cybercrime Cases Revealed at the Investigative Committee
In the main department for the investigation of particularly important cases at the RA Investigative Committee, cybercrime cases have been uncovered as a result of investigative actions undertaken within the framework of a multi-episode criminal case.
According to the factual data obtained during the preliminary investigation, V.S. reached a preliminary agreement with N.K. to collaborate in committing thefts using computer technology. They acted with a unified intent, complementing each other’s actions for an extended period, obtaining financial resources through criminal means.
In particular, during 2020, N.K. created a personal account titled “Money Man credit” linked to the social media site “https://www.facebook.com/104110805147302,” posing as a credit organization’s page. By presenting themselves as agents of the credit organization through this page, from October 30, 2020, to June 14, 2021, they obscured the truth, claiming to provide loans amounting to five times the amount available in bank cards or “Tel-Sel Wallet” electronic wallet accounts.
Through deception, they retrieved the valid conditions of bank cards issued in the names of users on that social media platform and entered into external transfers to the linked mobile numbers after obtaining passwords in numerical form. By presenting these passwords as confirmations for the loans they supposedly transferred, and using the login names and passwords of “Tel-Sel Wallet” electronic wallets registered with “Tel-Sel” LLC under their names, they gained unlawful access to these electronic wallets, managed the accounts, and through transfer methods, embezzled a total of 1,041,900 AMD from them.
In light of the proliferation of this type of cybercrime, the prosecutorial body urges citizens affected by the aforementioned acts, as well as similar crimes, to contact law enforcement agencies, while also refraining from engaging in similar transactions on social networks or other online platforms or disclosing personal information.
