Man Kills Neighbor with Kitchen Knife in Yerevan
The Armenian police report that on September 26, just past midnight, a resident of Sisakyan Street called 1-02 to inform that her husband had a drunken altercation with a neighbor the previous morning, left home, and had not returned.
Within minutes of receiving the call, an operational group arrived at the specified address. Criminal investigators quickly established when and with whom the dispute had occurred. They attempted to gather more details from the neighbor, but the door of his apartment was closed.
Hearing sounds from inside, police called the missing man's mobile phone. The ringing was heard from the apartment. Later, when opening the door with the help of emergency services, law enforcement discovered the body of the 56-year-old man, who had been stabbed in the neck.
The neighbor who had been involved in the argument was also present at the scene. Through operational-investigative and investigative measures, it was revealed that during a dispute over financial matters, the 55-year-old neighbor had killed the 56-year-old man with a kitchen knife.
The suspect was taken to the Mashtots police department. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident. The 56-year-old man confessed to the crime and was arrested. The knife has been seized. A forensic examination has been appointed. An investigation is underway.
