Agarak Resident Arrested on Suspicion of Violence Against Tax Committee Employees
On September 25, 2021, the Department for the Fight Against Smuggling of the State Revenue Committee of Armenia received a report concerning an incident that occurred around 4:00 PM at the customs inspection zone of the "M egri Customs Checkpoint". It was reported that a citizen obstructed the inspection of a vehicle, engaged in a dispute with the employees of the Department for the Fight Against Smuggling of the State Revenue Committee, and subsequently struck the employees with fists and feet, causing bodily harm, together with his brother.
During the preliminary investigation, the identities of the individuals who allegedly committed non-dangerous violence against representatives of the authorities performing their official duties—who are residents of the city of Agarak in the Syunik Province—were established as brothers.
A criminal case has been initiated at the Meghri division of the Armenian police under Part 1 of Article 316 of the Criminal Code of Armenia, and it has been forwarded to the Syunik regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee for further investigation.
One of the brothers has been arrested on suspicion of committing violence against a representative of the authority, while efforts are underway to locate the other brother.
