Fatal Hit-and-Run in Gegharkunik: Unknown Driver Strikes 65-Year-Old Pedestrian

On September 14, a fatal hit-and-run incident occurred in the Gegharkunik province.

At around 19:40, the driver of an unidentified vehicle, without a license plate, struck 65-year-old Manyak Galstyan, a resident of Gegharkunik, while traveling on the Yerevan-Sevan-Ijevan highway at the 64 km mark towards Yerevan.

According to shamshyan.com, the victim was transported in critical condition to the Sevan Medical Center, and the driver left the scene, abandoning him.

While police and investigators were clarifying certain circumstances at the site, a report was received from the hospital by the Sevan Police Department that the victim had died around 22:40 without regaining consciousness.

Based on the facts, a criminal case has been initiated by Senior Investigator Mkrtchyan. The police and the investigative department are conducting necessary operational-search activities and joint investigations to identify the driver responsible for the hit-and-run and to locate the vehicle.
