Murodov Visits Captured Azerbaijani Soldier in Artsakh
The commander of the Russian peacekeeping forces in Nagorno-Karabakh, Lieutenant General Rustam Murodov, has visited the captured Azerbaijani soldier Jamir Babaev, who is currently being held in Artsakh. This information was reported to Sputnik Armenia by a source from the Russian peacekeeping forces in Artsakh.
During the visit, Murodov learned about the conditions of Babaev's detention and his health status. At Babaev's request, arrangements will be made for him to communicate with his relatives and family members.
It is noteworthy that on August 25, Azerbaijani soldier Jamir Babaev entered one of the houses in the city of Martakert, where only two teenagers were present at the time. He threatened the children and demanded food and cigarettes. They gave him bread, after which one of the teenagers promised to go to the store to buy cigarettes and left the house. The boy managed to retain his composure and called the police. Law enforcement arrived shortly after and detained the unauthorized guest.
Afterward, the Azerbaijani side released information claiming that Babaev had escaped from a psychiatric hospital in Ganja (approximately 140 km from Martakert) and had crossed into Armenian territory. On August 28, soldier Jamir Babaev was charged under Article 350, Part 1, Article 316, Article 145, Part 1, Article 135, Part 1, and Article 133, Part 2, Subpoints 2, 3, 4, and 6 of the Artsakh Criminal Code (illegal border crossing, threats of murder against minors, and espionage with apparent characteristics). He has been placed in custody as a preventive measure. The investigation is ongoing.
