Former Prime Minister of Georgia Launches Election Campaign in Tbilisi
Former Prime Minister, leader of the "For Georgia" party, and mayoral candidate of Tbilisi, Giorgi Gakharia has officially launched his election campaign in the capital, reports Armenpress.
Gakharia held his first meeting with voters in the Isani district along with Tata Khevedeliani, the party's majoritarian candidate from this region. Gakharia shared with the voters how significant Tbilisi is to him, a city where he was born, raised, and educated.
"Whatever we talk about, we will do. We do not give false promises to the people; thus, we do not dishonor either ourselves or others. If something cannot be done, we will say that it cannot be done. You know me; I have made many mistakes, but I have also done a lot. What I have said, I have also done, and I knew what I was serving," Gakharia stated.
According to the former Prime Minister, his party is entering the elections to give the citizens of the country the opportunity to live with dignity and support their families decently. For this, new people must come into the country's politics. "There is nothing more important in this country than integrity and professionalism. We are tired of seeing the same faces. We must open the way for young people in politics," Gakharia declared.
The elections in Georgia will take place on October 2, during which residents of 64 cities and districts will elect mayors and local representatives (sacrebulo). According to most polls, the "For Georgia" party ranks third in popularity, after the ruling "Georgian Dream" party and the main opposition force, the "United National Movement," as reported by Sputnik.
