Armenian Government Announces New Mobilization

The Armenian government has announced a new mobilization. The decision was made during today’s cabinet session.

According to the decision, the gatherings will be training exercises and will involve reservists listed as first group in first rank, including private, junior officer, and officer ranks. A total of up to 869 citizens will be involved in the training gatherings, of which 576 are privates, 107 are junior officers, and 186 are officers from the reserve.

Reservists from motorized infantry, missile-artillery, air defense, communication, reconnaissance, electronic warfare, engineering, and mapping specialties will be involved in the training. Each professional group training session will last for 9 days. The overall training gatherings will take place over three months, from September 15 to December 15, 2021.

The government’s decision is based on the fact that the Armenian Armed Forces have been equipped with new weaponry and military technology in recent years, and structural reforms are being implemented within the armed forces. Therefore, there is a necessity to improve the professional training quality of reservists.

It should be noted that prior to this, the Armenian Ministry of Defense announced quarterly training gatherings for reservists from August 25 to November 25. These gatherings have already started as scheduled and are currently ongoing. Reservists listed as first group in first rank, including private, junior officer, and officer ranks, are involved in these gatherings.
