Are You Prepared to Cede Territories of the Republic of Armenia for Peace? Call from the '5165' Movement

The '5165' movement has issued an open call-demand to the authorities of the Republic of Armenia, stating: "The costly sacrifices of the 1990s war and the hardships endured by the people were the price for the second independence of the Armenians. Now, after suffering such losses in the 44-day war and under the existential threats hanging over us, we are being presented with an agenda for a peace era.

What is the price of this peace?

On behalf of the people of the Republic of Armenia and with the promise of accountability to the citizens, we demand clear answers and explanations from the Prime Minister, who came to power in the elections.

You announce a peace era with hostile neighbors of Armenia and the Armenian people under conditions where:

• armed incursions into the territory of Armenia continue,
• the abductions of our servicemen from the territory of Armenia are ongoing,
• the gross violations of human rights established by international conventions regarding Armenian prisoners are continuing,
• open claims are being made over other territories of Armenia,
• the fact of Armenia's independence is being disputed,
• we are not even talking about other statements that humiliate the Armenian people and the state.

This list can go on. Please tell the citizens of Armenia what logic underlies your proposals for a peace era with Azerbaijan and Turkey. What is the motivation and true purpose behind this?

You speak of certain positive signals coming from Turkey and promise to send positive signals regarding the connection of the villages of Arinj and Vorotan using the Azerbaijani names of Eyvazli and Chayzami. What are these positive signals from Turkey, how did you receive them, and what positive signals will your government send to Turkey, and at whose expense?

As a reminder: you have publicly promised the people to disclose everything related to the resolution of the Artsakh issue, obtain the people’s consent, and only then undertake the steps entrusted to you by office. You secretly and unexpectedly signed the November 9 agreement and took steps detrimental to Armenia’s security that were not even envisaged in the agreement; for instance, you ordered the Armenian armed forces to position themselves along lines that, calibrated via the GPS system, leave certain sections of the interstate road connecting Armenia with Iran under Azerbaijani control, resulting in another security crisis in Armenia due to the recent closure of the road by Azerbaijanis under various pretexts.

In this situation, will you make unexpected decisions again? Let the public know your planned steps as per your promise. After all, you have promised to always be open and transparent in your activities, adhering to the principles of democracy.
