Snowden Warns Smartphone Users of Surveillance Risks by Companies Like Apple
Former U.S. intelligence employee Edward Snowden has warned smartphone users about the surveillance risks posed by companies that exploit phones, particularly Apple, regarding user personal data and file tracking, as reported by Interfax.
“The company (Apple) is crossing a boundary; they are starting to monitor your phones, and they can search everything. They can look for politically sensitive moments, financial information, and any files that might be on the phone,” said Snowden.
According to him, this technology is currently being used only in the U.S. “Do you think Apple can refuse the governments of the U.S., Russia, China, France, or the United Kingdom? Of course not,” Snowden stated.
