Removal of a 10-Kilogram Giant Fibroid from the Uterus at 'Grigor Narekatsi' Medical Center
Recently, a 53-year-old woman visited the 'Grigor Narekatsi' Medical Center complaining of abdominal pain and bleeding, which had resulted in abnormally low hemoglobin levels. Without any special examination, her abdomen measured approximately that of a 28-week pregnant woman. After examination, a uterine fibroid was diagnosed.
In light of the situation, and to address the risks promptly, a blood transfusion was carried out, followed by surgery for a hysterectomy with appendages. The removed fibroid weighed approximately 10 kg.
The medical center reports that the surgery proceeded smoothly, without complications. The patient's condition has been assessed as satisfactory by the doctors.
The intervention was conducted by Ashot Sargsyan, Head of the Gynecology Department at 'Grigor Narekatsi' Medical Center, a candidate of medical sciences, along with assistants Aram Sargsyan and Nikolay Shahbazyan, both obstetrician-gynecologists.
