Kabul Airport to Resume Operations with Support from Turkey and Qatar

The Kabul airport in Afghanistan's capital is set to resume operations thanks to financial assistance from Turkey and Qatar, Tolo News reports.

"Kabul airport will begin operating within two days with $30 million in financial aid received from Qatar and Turkey," the website quotes Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, a representative of the Taliban movement.

Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu stated that Turkey and Qatar should not act alone in managing Kabul airport. Earlier, Qatar's foreign minister had discussed collaboration with Turkey regarding the opening of the airport in Kabul.

Thousands of Afghans fled to other countries through Kabul airport following the Taliban's takeover of the country's governance. The events in the country unfolded similarly to the withdrawal of U.S. forces.
