Haik Marutyan's Car Did Not Drive on the Sidewalk, Hakob Karapetyan Clarifies

The publication recently reported that they received photos and information from citizens claiming that Mayor Haik Marutyan's car had driven on the sidewalk. The citizen captured the vehicle in the area descending from Saralanj to Heratsi Street.

Auroranews contacted Hakob Karapetyan, the press secretary of Yerevan City Hall, to obtain clarification and determine whether Haik Marutyan was behind the wheel.

“In the area descending from Saralanj to Heratsi Street, where Haik Marutyan's service vehicle was parked, there is a safety island. This is not a sidewalk; pedestrians do not walk through that section, and traffic does not occur there. The safety island is designed to place vehicles in an emergency situation. The mayor's car experienced a breakdown on the road. With the help of another driver, Haik Marutyan moved the car from that area to avoid creating an emergency situation and a traffic jam. There is no traffic there; it is not a sidewalk. Please quote me literally on this. This is a fabrication by the yellow press, a textbook example of unethical journalism,” Karapetyan stated.

You can see the area where the mayor's car was parked below.
