Contract Soldier Gegham Sahakyan Sustains Fatal Gunshot Wound from Enemy Fire

On September 1, 2021, at approximately 11:10 AM, contract soldier, Junior Sergeant Gegham Lyovayi Sahakyan, serving at a combat position in the protective area of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Armenia, sustained a gunshot wound to the left shoulder from an unknown enemy soldier’s fire. He succumbed to his injuries at a medical center between 11:45 and 11:50 AM on the same day.

This information has been reported by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia.

A criminal case has been initiated at the Eighth Military Investigative Division of the Military Investigative Main Department of the Committee under Article 104, Part 2, Points 2 and 13 of the RA Criminal Code. An investigation is underway.
