Azerbaijanis Destroy Makun Bridge in Hadrut Region and Attempt to Alter the Course of the Ishkhanaget River
The Caucasus Heritage Watch, an international organization dedicated to the protection of cultural heritage in the region, has raised an alarm regarding the destruction of a bridge located in the Hadrut region of Artsakh.
The bridge in question is the Makun Bridge, situated in the village of Great Tagher, which was destroyed during road construction activities following the area coming under Azerbaijani control. The organization has released satellite images indicating that the bridge was destroyed between April 8 and July 7 of this year.
Additionally, the source points out that beyond road construction, the Azerbaijani side is also undertaking engineering works aimed at changing the course of the Ishkhanaget River, over which the bridge once spanned.
It is worth noting that in mid-August, Caucasus Heritage Watch reported on the relocation of 51 sculptures from the Sculpture Park of the Museum of Fine Arts in Shushi, the whereabouts of which remain unknown.
