Armenia and Azerbaijan's Joint Efforts Must Lead to Peace, Not War – Kerobyan

Armenia and Azerbaijan must cease mutual accusations and seek avenues for cooperation. This was stated by Armenia’s Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan during a press conference held ahead of the Armenian-German forum dedicated to the promotion of tourism, commenting on his previous statement that Armenia must engage constructively with Azerbaijan.

"We must ensure that our joint efforts lead to peace, rather than the contrary—leading to war," said Kerobyan.

When asked how the Armenian government views Syunik as a tourist destination, given Azerbaijan's incursions into its borders, Vahan Kerobyan responded: "We believe that the issues currently occurring in Syunik need to be addressed. Border incidents are indeed happening. I mourn for our fallen soldier, but both we and our international partners must spare no effort to prevent such incidents in the future."

According to Kerobyan, in the long-term plans, the government does not downplay the tourism potential of Syunik for Armenia. "Syunik has numerous attractive points where we and visitors to Armenia can have an excellent time, such as the Tatev aerial tramway, Goris, Old Khndzoresk, Kapan, and Meghri," he noted.

The minister emphasized that the government is already making significant investments in the modernization of infrastructure in Syunik.

Regarding Artsakh, the Deputy Chairman of the Tourism Committee of the Ministry of Economy, Alfred Kocharyan, assured that Artsakh is still included among tourism destinations, despite certain challenges for foreign visitors currently. "I believe it is only a matter of time, and after regulations and demarcation, Artsakh will always be included in our programs," Kocharyan said.

Minister Kerobyan also confirmed that Artsakh remains part of Armenia's tourism landscape as it always has been.
