VIDEO: We Won't Allow Them to Place the Stone They Want. I Will Take My Child and Bring Him to the Government Building, Says Mother of Fallen Soldier

“We gave them a 20-year-old child so they could demolish graves? How can they sleep at night after such destruction? With what broken hand did they sign these orders?” These statements were made by Ella Ghapanjyan, mother of the Hero of the Republic, Narek Gevorgyan, during a rally near the government building on August 31.

It is noted that on the afternoon of August 30, the tombstone, columns, and benches at Narek’s grave were demolished. Everything was completely destroyed, and the stone was taken away. At Yerablur, every grave has been demolished, and they said it will all be uniform.

“On August 23, on my child’s birthday, we were at Yerablur, and there were generals present; everyone saw that the graves were established. There was a gathering discussing what stones to place. They were making their decisions, while we were laying tiles; they were all aware of what was happening. They could have told us, ‘parent, don’t lay tiles, because it will be demolished.’ We arranged the grave, and asked nothing from them,” she emphasized.

“I will become their nightmare; I will curse them every day. They will live the same anguish. Let them now tell us who gave the signature for this, and by whose order it happened. Maybe Pashinyan is not even aware; let them come down and answer us,” she stated.

The mother of the fallen soldier noted that there are four types of stones, but they have not been offered alternatives because her son’s gravesite was already set. “Let them take those gravestones and place them in their homes; we do not need them. If we do not place this stone either, we will not allow them to place the stone they want. I will take my child and bring him here to the government building; I will lay him here. If there are going to be four types of stones, let there be a fifth type for us,” she asserted.

Earlier, NEWS.am reported that on August 30, the tombstone, columns, and benches of Hero of the Republic Narek Gevorgyan at the Yerablur military pantheon were stolen and demolished. Narek’s father, Roman Gevorgyan, stated that they were at Yerablur the night before, and the tombstone was still there; it was demolished and taken during the day. According to him, he had previously received special permission from past and current ministers of defense and other responsible bodies for its placement, but they arrived to find no tombstone, no columns, and no benches.
