Sharp Disagreements Between Baku and Moscow: Vardan Oskanyan
Iran expert Vardan Oskanyan's Facebook post.
“Judging by the reactions from the Russian political sphere, there are sharp disagreements between Baku and Moscow, particularly concerning the mandate of Russian peacekeepers. Through state media, the authoritarian leader of Azerbaijan has repeatedly issued almost overt threats that the peacekeeping forces of the Russian Federation allegedly have no legal status in Artsakh, and therefore Azerbaijan can act as it pleases with them.
It is a completely different matter that in terms of military power, there are only a handful of countries in the world with which it is impossible to 'treat as desired,' and one of them, no matter how much they try to ignore it in Azerbaijan, is Russia.
In this context, the periodic attempts by the authoritarian leader of Baku to exert pressure on Armenia are clearly also aimed at Moscow, whose noticeable increased military presence in the South Caucasus is directly contrary to Ankara's interests, which is trying to work through its executor Azerbaijan in this direction.”
