Man Threatens to Detonate Object Resembling a Hand Grenade
On August 28, at 19:30, a call was received at the police station. An employee of a bookmakers' office in Gyumri reported that a 48-year-old man had called the office stating that he wanted to cash out money from his account, which was denied, and the man threatened to blow up the office.
This information was reported by the Police. Officers from the Kumairi and Mush divisions of the police quickly arrived at the scene and located the man on Shirakatsy Street. Upon seeing the police, he claimed he had a financial issue with the betting company and intended to blow up the office.
He then produced an object resembling a grenade from his pocket and threatened to detonate it if the police approached him. As a result of the police's skillful actions, he was taken into custody by the Mush division.
A personal search revealed two objects resembling grenades in his pocket. The man stated that these were grenades given to him in 1990 by a deceased comrade, whose name he could not remember.
A criminal case has been initiated, and the man has been arrested. An explosive technical examination has been appointed, and the circumstances are being clarified.
