Armen Budoyan, Captured and Returned by Azerbaijan, and His Family Evicted from Their Home: MP

The Chair of the National Assembly's Standing Committee on Human Rights and Public Affairs, Taguhi Tovmasyan, wrote on her Facebook page: “I received Armen Budoyan, who was captured and later returned by Azerbaijan. Our compatriot recounted how he and his friends were taken captive while on a mission and spent 17 days in a prison in Baku. During those days, no one from the Ministry of Defense of Armenia contacted any of his family members.

Armen returned to Armenia only to find himself on reserve status. He notes that he was not given the attention usually afforded to those in reserve, and during these months, he received no financial support. Additionally, the soldiers have a rental contract with the Ministry of Defense, and the funds outlined in that contract have also gone unpaid, leading to the eviction of Armen, his wife, and their three minor children from their rented home.

Armen added that he demanded to be reassigned to another military unit, or be discharged, but he has not been discharged for several months and has not even been given his military record book, which he urgently needs to seek employment in other fields. After returning to his homeland, Armen sent a letter to the Minister of Defense of Armenia, but he has yet to receive a response. I will continue to follow this case and do everything within my power to resolve his issues.”
