I Say the Goris-Kapan Road is Closed, Pashinyan Says There is an Alternative Dirt Road: Arthur Vanetsyan
It is absurd when the justification for mentioning Azerbaijani toponyms is explained by Pashinyan's allies as him highlighting that Azerbaijani forces have not entered Armenian territory. Arthur Vanetsyan, the leader of the 'Honor Bound' faction, stated this during a briefing with journalists.
'Could anyone imagine that one day the interstate road of the Republic of Armenia would be closed by Azerbaijanis, and there would be no reaction from the authorities aside from pleading for peace? I am against military operations, I am against war, I support a peace agenda, but it must be dignified. It is simply horrifying. In the National Assembly, I say the interstate road to Syunik is closed, and instead of being told what to do or why this is happening, I'm told, 'You don't understand, there is an alternative dirt road.'
Vanetsyan considered the order of the Minister of Defense to shoot if any violation of the sovereign territory of Armenia by even 1 cm occurs as cheap publicity. 'When was that order canceled, that now a new one is being issued? One cannot deceive people and engage in cheap publicity.'
In response to statements about the border troops' responsibilities for guarding the border, Vanetsyan mentioned, 'I fundamentally support the idea that border troops should engage in border security and military units should focus on their combat readiness. But I know very well what condition the border troops are in, what human losses they have, and it is impossible to ensure the security of Armenia's borders with this human resource at this stage. Regardless, it is correct for border troops to ensure the protection of Armenia's borders.'
Discussing the security system and border situation in Armenia, Vanetsyan affirmed that security does not exist in Armenia. 'The security system in Armenia has been undermined. Security is a factor that is invisible; either it exists and you do not feel it, or it does not exist and panic begins.' Vanetsyan added that there are substantial doubts regarding discussions about another document that the public is not aware of.
