Eduard Aghajanyan Calls on International Community to Act Against Azerbaijan's Illegal Actions
KP parliamentary member Eduard Aghajanyan wrote on his Facebook page: “August 30 is symbolic for raising awareness about the importance of international humanitarian law and the norms of international human rights law, as it was declared by the UN General Assembly in 2010 as the International Day of Victims of Enforced Disappearances.
In this context, I find it essential to once again draw the attention of international partners to one of the pressing issues for the Republic of Armenia, namely, the immediate and unconditional release of Armenian prisoners of war and civilians unlawfully held in Azerbaijan.
Even considering the existing evidence on the matter, the Azerbaijani authorities continue to deny the undeniable facts regarding individuals held captive, as well as the inhumane treatment and torture they endure.
Such legal arbitrariness should have no place in a modern and healthy society, being unacceptable in terms of violations of the inalienable rights reserved for individuals.
Despite the clear manifestations of the hateful policy adopted by the Azerbaijani authorities, the proper reactions and support from several states and international organizations directed towards stabilizing the situation are highly valued.
Thus, we call on the international community and international organizations dealing with human rights to take more active steps to immediately halt Azerbaijan's illegal actions.”
