COVID Unit Reopened in Gyumri

In light of the increase in positive COVID-19 diagnoses, the COVID unit at the Gyumri Medical Center has been reopened. According to Armenpress, currently, not only the COVID unit is under heavy workload, but the therapeutic department is also strained due to patients with pneumonia.

Alongside the opening of the COVID unit, visiting rules for patients at the Gyumri Medical Center have been tightened once again. As reported by the center to Armenpress, the COVID unit was previously closed due to a decrease in the number of patients, and only the triage department was operational. Currently, there has arisen a need to reopen it.

“There was indeed a necessity for the reopening of the department; both the demand was high and the results were positive,” noted Armen Khachatryan, the deputy director of the center. The unit will serve patients not only from Shirak but also from Lori and Tavush regions.
