Shymkent Resident Attacks Citizen with Axe with Intent to Kill
On August 26, 2021, at 14:30, a resident of Gyumri reported to the Mush division of the Gyumri police that on August 22 of the same year, an unknown Facebook user had made insulting remarks on the Facebook page of the “National Value” club. In connection with this, he contacted the user and arranged to meet in front of the Gyumri branch of the Armenian State University of Economics.
As a result, on August 23, around 18:00, when they met, the unknown man got out of the vehicle and struck the resident on the left hand with an axe, causing bodily injury. Subsequently, it was revealed that around 18:30 on August 23, that man, with the intent to unlawfully deprive the Gyumri resident of life, attacked him with an axe and attempted to strike him on the head. However, avoiding those strikes, the victim tried to protect his head with his hands, resulting in the axe striking his hand instead of his head, causing him bodily injury.
A criminal case has been initiated at the Mush division of the Gyumri police under part 1 of Article 34-104 of the RA Criminal Code, and the investigation is being conducted by the Shirak regional investigation department of the Investigative Committee of Armenia. Following urgent investigative and procedural actions, as well as operational measures taken, the identity of the presumed culprit was established, who is also a resident of Gyumri, born in 1983. He has been arrested on suspicion of attempting to commit murder against his fellow citizen. The investigation is ongoing.
