Armenian Authorities Have Come to Terms with the Loss of the Goris-Kapan Highway: Geghamyan

Expert on Turkish studies Varujan Geghamyan writes, “We can already note that the de facto authorities of Armenia, under the leadership of the capitulator, have come to terms with the loss of the Goris-Kapan highway and will not take any real steps to bring it back under Armenian control (as was the case with Lake Sevan and the village of Kut).”

“It can also be confidently stated that Azerbaijan will deepen its presence in Syunik by taking new infrastructure and territories, as it has convinced itself that it will not face any resistance from the Armenian side, nor will it encounter any in the future.”

“Back in February, we estimated that, should this government remain in power, the Turkification of Syunik would take 5-7 years. We were wrong; the conquest of Syunik will occur much more rapidly.”

“The answer to the question of what to do is very simple: remove the de facto pro-Turkish government.”
