Road Opened and Then Closed Again with Russian Forces' Mediation; Negotiations Resumed

The roads in the Karmrakar-Shurnukh and Goris-Vorotan sections remain closed, but negotiations to reopen the routes have resumed. This was reported in a conversation with Sputnik Armenia by Onik Avagyan, the mayor of the village of Bardzravan.

"We have an alternative road that connects to the Tatev-Kapan road, located about 12 kilometers from our village, but it goes through forests, fields, and mountains. It is, in other words, a very poor road, and off-road vehicles are required to reach it," said Avagyan.

According to him, there has been no evacuation from Bardzravan, and the local residents are living their lives without panic, though there is naturally some anxiety.

Avagyan also mentioned that last night he was present in the section of the Goris-Kapan road where, with Russian intervention, the Azerbaijani soldiers temporarily opened the road for trapped vehicles. "After 11 PM last night, the road was opened with the mediation of the Russians, but by dawn, it was closed again," Avagyan stated.

As previously reported, on August 25, Azerbaijani soldiers closed the traffic on the Karmrakar-Shurnukh section of the Kapan-Goris highway. Vehicles in the area were evacuated. The Armenian National Security Service has stated that efforts are underway to restore traffic on the highway. Today, the enemy's troops have closed the Goris-Vorotan section.

Currently, the situation in Goris is generally calm, but the roads from Karahunj village to Vorotan, Shurnukh, and Kapan are completely closed. No one knows about further actions and plans, and the local residents also have no information. Armenian and Russian border guards are on site.
