Head of Vorotan Community Released from Detention for Two Days, Lawyer Says
The head of Vorotan community, Suren Ohanyan, has been released from custody based on a court decision. This was stated by lawyer Arsen Vardanyan in an interview with Tert.am.
“Suren Ohanyan was released not yesterday but two days ago; however, I cannot provide details regarding his case as I am no longer his lawyer,” Vardanyan noted.
It is worth recalling that following the extraordinary parliamentary elections, Suren Ohanyan was arrested on suspicion of offering bribes, according to Article 154.2, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of Armenia. The prosecuting body had filed charges against Ohanyan and submitted a motion to the court requesting his detention as a measure of restraint, which was granted. The pre-investigation body presented the material assistance provided to community residents from the state budget as bribe.
