Entrance Doors of Nairi Cinema Closed Illegally: Audience and Staff Unable to Access the Building

The entrance doors of the Nairi cinema have been closed illegally, preventing both the audience and staff from entering the premises. This was announced by the Nairi Cinema.

“Dear audience, this morning, the owner, Sambat Nasibyan, illegally closed the entrance doors of the Nairi cinema, and the audience and staff have been unable to access the building,” the statement reads.

Materials are being prepared at the police department of the Center administrative district of Yerevan regarding this criminal act. For months, Sambat Nasibyan has been trying to obstruct the normal operation of the cinema by any means. Previously, he closed the exit doors, preventing the audience from using the restrooms. He has made an illegal and ridiculous demand in court that the seats in the cinema hall and the wall speakers are not specified in the contract, as if the audience should sit on the ground.

Perhaps the most critical and incomprehensible action that raises serious concerns about this individual is the REMOVAL OF THE FLAG OF THE REPUBLIC OF ARMENIA LOCATED ON THE CINEMA BUILDING. For years, he has also refused to fully lease the building for various unfounded reasons, leaving our beloved audience unable to access the main lobby and the second hall.

Of course, one of the main reasons behind all this is, as he himself confessed, that Sambat Nasibyan does not want the Nairi cinema building to operate as a cinema. Perhaps he wants to turn it into a restaurant or a branded mall. We believe that the Armenian people will not allow this.”
