A Turkish-Azerbaijani Spy Group of Nine Operates in Armenia: Boris Avagyan

A spy group consisting of nine individuals operates in Armenia, working for Turkish and Azerbaijani intelligence services, gathering important information for an extended period. This was stated to Sputnik Armenia by Boris Avagyan, a former adviser to the President of Artsakh and a colonel.

“They are citizens of Armenia and Ukraine, acting as methodologists in Armenia, collecting information about the citizens of the country and very important issues,” he said.

Avagyan revealed that he had been monitoring their activities for two months and discovered that the group actively works towards “recruiting” around two dozen individuals, whose relatives hold various positions in state and law enforcement agencies.

He has shared all the information he gathered about the spy group with the heads of the National Security Service, the Prosecutor General, and the Chief of Police. When asked for more details, Boris Avagyan preferred not to disclose further information, urging to await an official announcement from law enforcement agencies.

He mentioned that he has not received any feedback regarding the information submitted but believes a criminal case should be initiated.

The Prosecutor's Office confirmed to the media that they have received Avagyan's report and are currently investigating it. The police stated that a detailed examination of all information is required before providing any comments, and attempts to contact the NSS were unsuccessful.

It is noteworthy that after the 44-day war in Artsakh, messages periodically appear on social networks claiming that conversations in Azerbaijani are being heard in the streets of the city and in some crowded places.

In this regard, Sputnik has sent a written inquiry to the National Security Service, requesting clarification on whether these individuals are under their control. The agency responded that they conduct operational and search activities as prescribed by law, the results of which are not subject to publication.
