SoldiersCaughtSleeping in Military Units or Combat Posts Demand 8,000-10,000 Drams

Under the hungry regime in the Armenian army (many deputies and officials have voiced this issue), new types of crime are developing. It turns out that in various military units or combat posts, those who catch a soldier sleeping often demand a specific amount of money to conceal this act, typically between 8,000 and 10,000 drams.

According to the newspaper 'Zhoghovurd', cases of demanding 'ransom' from sleeping soldiers have come under investigation by law enforcement agencies. Moreover, these incidents have become widespread. While Nikol Pashinyan claimed that parents of soldiers would not have to send them underwear, as the army was fully staffed, it appears that parents are now compelled to send money from home to delete photos of their sleeping soldiers or to prevent the facts from being reported to superiors.

This suggests that the issue of mutual debts within the units has not yet been resolved and can sometimes have fatal consequences. We recall the recent incident where a soldier killed three of his comrades, with law enforcement also examining theories of debt collection and violations of each other's dignity.
