How Many People Have Left Armenia Without Returning This Year

According to the newspaper "Zhoghovurd": As of January-July this year, 43,039 passengers have left Armenia by plane and have not returned. The paper received this information from the Republic of Armenia's Civil Aviation Committee, noting that 515,849 passengers departed from Zvartnots Airport during these months, while 488,833 arrived, indicating that 27,016 citizens did not return.

At Shirak Airport, during the first seven months of this year, 42,141 passengers left, while only 26,118 returned, showing a shortfall of 16,023 passengers. It is noteworthy that the number of individuals who have left by plane and have not returned does not fully reflect the migration picture, as many citizens prefer overland routes. If those routes were fully open, this figure would increase several times.

On another note, it should be mentioned that Gyumri's Shirak Airport will not be operational from July 15 to September 15. "Zhoghovurd" reported that the airport has actually been closed for renovations and will later serve military purposes.
