Bayraktars Are Easy Targets for Air Defense Systems: Almaz-Antey Constructor on Proper UAV Combat
The Turkish Bayraktar strike drone is an easy target for air defense systems, according to Pavel Sozinov, the chief constructor of Almaz-Antey, in an interview with RIA Novosti.
Sozinov noted that the Bayraktar is a typical target for air defense systems and is a large target. In fact, it is an aircraft weighing 650 kilograms, which is very vulnerable because it flies relatively slowly.
In Sozinov's opinion, the fight against the Bayraktar should be conducted with means that have a longer range than the drone itself. “This means it should be detected in time, which is not a problem, and destroyed before it can use its armament,” the constructor clarified.
Almaz-Antey is a leading Russian company focused on creating systems to combat any means of air and space assault. The concern has developed such well-known air defense systems as Tor, Buk, and S-400.
It should be reminded that during the military operations in Artsakh in the autumn of 2020, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces actively employed Turkish-made drones.
